NYC ‘24: Day 2
Swerve means "an abrupt change in direction". Swerve Church, located in Brooklyn, New York, desires to see people in their community who are far from God brought into a growing relationship with Jesus.
Day 2 began with a time of personal quiet times in 1 Thessalonians. Throughout this week, as a team, we will be individually studying this letter, and then we will have a group Bible study midday on the text studied. We will grow personally as we serve others this week. Following our time in the Word, we traveled to Swerve Church and worshipped with them. We sang to the Lord, heard from the Word, and took the Lord’s Supper. Worshipping alongside Swerve only increased our excitement in serving them the remainder of this week.
We finished our day exploring the remainder of Manhattan. As much fun as enjoying NYC has been the past two days, our team is prepared and excited to begin tomorrow serving Swerve and reaching the community for Christ. Tomorrow will be filled with community outreach projects. Pray that the Lord will go before us and empower us to do the work already “prepared beforehand.” (Eph. 2:10)
Our team has committed to be F.A.T. this week. Yes, you read that right. F.A.T. Flexible. Available. Teachable. These are the traits of biblical missionaries. Pray that we will embody all of these three traits the remainder of the week!
